The opening ceremony of the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF) was held at the Yanqi Lake International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Beijing today (26).
Delivering the keynote speech at the opening session, the Chinese president - Xi Jinping welcomed the participation of multilateral and international financial institutions in the development of "One Belt And One Road" investment and financing, and encouraged cooperation in the third-party market to achieve the goal of common benefits through multilateral participation.
"The flow of goods, capital, technology and people can provide strong impetus and broad space for economic growth. "A river runs deep because it cannot choose small streams." If rivers are cut off, the sea will dry up sooner or later," he said.
Noting that the world needs more bridges for cultures to learn from one another, the Chinese president also said a total of 10,000 representatives of political parties, think tanks and non-governmental organizations from countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative will be invited to China for exchanges in the next five years.
He also said that China will take a series of major reform and opening-up measures.
"We firmly believe that a more open China will have a more benign interaction with the world and bring about a more progressive and prosperous China and the world...Let's join hands and sow the seeds of cooperation, harvest the fruits of development together, make people of all countries happier and make the world better!," he concluded.
