Haturusinghe goes to Australia instead of returning Featured

Sri Lanka coach Chandika Haturusinghe has gone to Australia where he lives, instead of returning with the team following the West Indies tour, reports say.

He has not applied for leave either.

Haturusinghe gets paid an all-inclusive Rs. five million per month by Sri Lanka Cricket.

Together with manager Asanka Gurusinghe and captain Dinesh Chandimal, he faces a disciplinary inquiry after Sri Lanka refused to take to the field during the second Test to protest the ‘changing the condition of the ball’ charge against Chandimal.

SL Cricket Wrong decision not to take to the field – Faizer Mustafa

No reference to Haturusinghe was made during a post-series media briefing back home, attended by sports minister Faizer Mustafa, Gurusinghe and Chandimal.

Speaking here, Mustafa said it was a wrong decision not to take to the field in that match.

The minister said he would seek a pardon from the ICC for the trio in consideration of the mental condition of the team at the time of the incident.

Gurusinghe said every attempt would be made to get a lenient sentence at the inquiry on July 10.
