Failing SL cricket team sets record victory

Hasitha Boyagoda has succeeded in recording the highest innings in the under 19 one day tournament.

He displayed his winning performance at the under 19 match played between Sri Lanka and New Zealand.

A past pupil of Trinity College Kandy, Boyagoda scored 191 runs while the highest previous score was scored by Jakob Bhula of New Zealand who scored 180.

Prior to this instance, the highest score recorded by a Sri Lankan under 19 cricketer was in 2009 by Bhanuka Rajapaksa who scored 154r against Australia.

However, the Sri Lankan team did not make it to the final round, but Boyagoda reached this score during the semi finals for the ninth place in the tournament.

Sri Lanka managed to score 419 runs in 50 overs for the loss of 04 wickets, which was the fourth highest score recorded by an under 19 ODI team.

The highest score was recorded by the Australian team in their match against Kenya. The Knyan team could only score 108 runs in 35.5 overs having lost all their batsmen. Accordingly, Sri Lanka obtained a striking win of 311 runs.
