11 Sri Lankans for Asian Grand Prix Featured

An 11 member Sri Lankan contingent is taking part in the Asian Grand Prix in China.

Six men and five women will represent the country at the event, with the first leg working off today (24), to be followed by two other legs.

Asela Kumara Wijesekara will miss the high jump event as he has contracted dengue.

Competitors in the men’s event are Sumedha Ranasinghe and Waruna Lakshan (javelin throw), Sanjaya Jayasinghe (triple jump), Himasha Eshan (100 metres) Ajith Premakumara (400 metres), and Indunil Herath (800 metres)

The Sri Lankan women taking part are Gayanthika Abeyrathne and Nimali Liyanaarchchi (800 metres), Tharika Fernando (putt shot), Tharanga Vinodani (high jump) and Rumeshika Ratnayake (100 metres).
