Bhanuka handed a suspended one-year ban

Sri Lanka national player Bhanuka Rajapaksa has been handed a one-year ban from all forms of cricket, suspended for two years.

Sri Lanka Cricket in a statement said he was also fined US$ 5,000.

SLC said an inquiry found that Bhanuka Rajapaksa breached obligations of Player Contract 2019/2020 by appearing in social media and other interviews.

Meanwhile, SLC said a decision has been taken to draft Bhanuka Rajapaksa into the 13-member squad currently undergoing training in Colombo for the series against India, under a Bio-Bubble focused on future tours.

The decision was taken after Rajapaksa achieved the required fitness levels, that is a prerequisite for national selections.
He is expected to join the bio-bubble tomorrow.
