Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh by 97 runs

Pacer Dushmantha Chameera picked up a five-for as Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh by 97 runs in the third and final One Day International of the series in Dhaka.

Chasing a daunting 287 runs to secure a series sweep, the home team could not get any momentum after the fall of quick wickets at the top of the innings.

The home team was stunned by a lethal spell of fast bowling by Dushmantha Chameera who removed Tamim Iqbal, Mohammad Naim and Shakib Al Hasan cheaply inside the first 10 overs.

Chameera went on to pick two more wickets to finish with figures of 5/16. For the hosts, Mahmudullah top scored with 53 while Mosaddek Hossain contributed with 51.

Earlier, Sri Lanka after opting to bat, went on to post a respectable 286/6 in 50 overs.

Skipper Kusal Janith Perera spearheaded the batting with a 122-ball 120. It was his sixth ODI century and first as the captain.

All-rounder Dhananjaya de Silva anchored the innings and scored 55 off 70 deliveries.

At the top of the innings Danushka Gunathilaka scored a better than run-a-ball 39 and put on 82 runs for the opening wicket.

For the home team pacer Taskin Ahmed picked up 4/46.

Despite the efforts, Sri Lanka lost the series 1-2 after back to back losses in the opening two ODIs.
