West Indies tour postponed Featured

Sri Lankan cricket team’s West Indies tour, initially scheduled to be held later this month, has been postponed, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) announced today (05).

The decision came after head coach Mickey Arthur and top-order batsman Lahiru Thirimanne tested positive for Covid-19 on Feb. 03. Subsequently, the entire squad is currently in self-isolation.

Reportedly, Thirimanne had attended the wedding of wicketkeeper-batsman Sadeera Samarawickrama on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Arthur had been on a break following the Test series against England.

Practices are currently halted and a decision on restarting practices will be taken soon, an SLC official said, speaking to 'Sri Lanka Mirror'.
