Zoysa files petition against SLC decision

Suspended national bowling coach Nuwan Zoysa has filed a writ petition at the Appeal Court seeking that Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC)’s decision to send him on compulsory leave, be declared null and void.

Mr. Zoysa was sent on compulsory leave after he was suspended by the ICC for breaching its Anti-corruption code while taking part as a coach during the T10 league in the UAE in 2017.

Attorney’s Dushantha Kularatne, Priyantha Herath and Chrishmal Warnasuriya will be appearing on behalf of the petitioner.

The SLC board comprising Chief Executive Officer Ashley de Silva, Human Resources Senior Manager Dananjaya Wijesinghe, President Shammi Silva, Vice Presidents K. Mathivanan and Ravin Wickramaratne, Secretary Mohan de Silva, Treasurer Lasantha Wickremasinghe, Assistant Treasurer Lalith Rambukwella have been named as respondents to the petition.

Further, Sports Minister Harin Fernando and Sports Secretary Chulananda Perera are also among those named as respondents in the case.
