Sumathipala loyalists to lose jobs tomorrow

Sports minister Harin Fernando has been alerted to an attempt by some contract employees of Sri Lanka Cricket to make use of the prevailing confusion in its administration to get their contracts extended by two years.

They had obtained letters from the competent authority saying their continued services were needed for the SLC.

Coming to know about their move on December 20, the day he was appointed to the portfolio, Fernando gave instructions to suspend the extensions, according to ‘Deshaya.’

More than 20 SLC employees, including several top executives such as CEO Ashley Silva and COO Jerome Jayaratne and most of them Thilanga Sumathipala loyalists, end their contracts tomorrow (31).

The Sumathipala administration created various new positions and filled them with their cronies at high salaries and with privileges.

The sports ministers reportedly intends to change several key positions at SLC.
