ICC says an ex-SLC president cannot contest Featured

The International Cricket Council has informed Sri Lanka Cricket and the Sports Ministry that a former SLC president cannot contest again, according to ‘Deshaya’.

That follows the ICC having come into the possession of court documents pertaining to a case he has filed against several of his family members.

He has been in the administration of the game despite allegations that he cannot contest as per Sri Lanka’s sports law.

In the event he does not contest again, the two vice presidents who had functioned under him are likely to contest for the post of president.

He also is now without the support of the parties that backed him at the previous SLC election.
