China donates facemasks to trishaw drivers (Pics / Video) Featured

A ceremony of donating 50,000 facemasks and 35,000 Covid-19 Prevention Posters to All Island Three wheeler Driver's Union was held at the Embassy of the Peoples' Republic of China in Colombo yesterday (29).

Chargé d'affaires of the Chinese Embassy - Mr. Hu Wei, Director General of Health Services - Dr.Anil Jasinghe, Vice President of All Island Three wheeler Driver's Union - Mr. Abdul Hameed and members of the union attended the event.

Posters were pasted on three wheelers while masks were distributed.

Speaking, Dr. Jasinghe said, "Trishaws are one of the prominent modes of transport in Sri Lanka. Also, the Chinese embassy discussed with me to create a poster with the aim of promoting the use of facemasks... The embassy has printed a large number of such posters... The usage of trishaws is extremely important because it is an important mode of transport which travels everywhere."

As the Director General of Health Services, I would also like to extend my thanks to the embassy, he added.

Speaking, Mr. Hu Wei said that they intended to distribute face masks among bus drivers as well.

Meanwhile, Mr. Hamead said that the donated face masks would be distributed among their members of Colombo district.
