Om, namah, Shivaya!

A large number of devotees participated in the Maha Siva Rathri rituals at Thirukiteswaran Kovil in Mannar last night, the administrative body of the temple said.

The Maha Siva Rathri celebration in the Northern Province was conducted at the Thirukiteswaran Kovil in Mannar.

The Hindus of Northern Sri Lanka engaged in a complete array of traditional customs and Hindu rituals including pouring milk on Shiva statues, smashing coconut, lighting lamps.

Mannar District Secretary, Mannar Security Forces, Government and Non-Government Organizations provided facilities to the people who participated in the rituals.

People from Jaffna, Vavuniya and Kilinochchi had come to the Thirukiteswaran Kovil and some had come in foot pilgrimage ( Paada Yathra).
