Attempts to contact Mr. Chandrasiri were unsuccessful.
Mr. Chandrasiri's predecessor - Narada Nissanka too was informed to leave as soon as he turned 55 years of age.
It is learnt that the 'Divaina' owner - Nimal Welgama has appointed Wasantha Liyanage to the post. Mr. Liyanage too, hails from the Mathugama area, same as Mr. Welgama.
Mr. Liyanage's elder brother is Lal Liyanage, who is the current distribution manager of the newspaper.
At the present, there are many a Divaina employee hailing from Mathugama, reports add.
Meanwhile, senior journalist of the newspaper - Deepthi Adikari too has informed her plans to resign. She has been working at 'Divaina' for around 35 years.
Speaking to 'Sri Lanka Mirror', a journalist of the newspaper said that the decision to remove Mr. Chandrasiri and Mr. Nissanka is a part of a conspiracy by Mr. Welgama to appoint an editor from the Mathugama area.
