The Minister had said that as Wimal Weerawansa is currently in a state of disgruntlement, something is bound to happen in the near future.
Wimal to the UNP!
Meanwhile, political sources state that there could be many who change parties, while it was reported in the Sunday Mawbima newspaper that discussions at the UNP Working Committee had indicated that a strong figure of the JO is expected to cross over to the UNP by December 21.
According to UNP internal sources, this person is Wimal Weerawansa who has held close ties with UNP’s Malik Samarawickrema.
Meanwhile it is reported that NFF Leader Wimal Weerawansa and Mahajana Eksath Peramuna Leader Dinesh Gunawardena had complained to MP Mahinda Rajapaksa regarding the step motherly treatment their parties had received at the preparation of the nomination list process.
These leaders had complained to MP Rajapaksa that due to the high handed behaviour of Basil Rajapaksa, many of the party members have now pledged their support to President Sirisena and said that Basil Rajapaksa has taken power to his own hands just as he did during the previous regime.
They had told Mahinda Rajapaksa that if Basil Rajapaksa continues in his high handed approach, they too would be forced to take stern action.
Anyone is free to leave:
However, Mahinda Rajapaksa had not responded in the face of these complaints but what questioned by media at the Hurikaduwa Sri Vidyasagara temple recently, he had said that some MPs are leaving the JO due to them being unable to share the seats.
“It was the same when we were in power and now they are same even in the opposition. But anyone is free to stay or leave,” he had said.
