John becomes ferocious: scares Sylvester

The General Secretary of the Lanka technical and general trade union Sylvester claims that Tourism Development and Christian Religious Affairs Minister John Amaratunge had called the President of the union and himself for a discussion to his ministry and scolded them and chased them off.

He states that the minister had invited them to his ministry for a discussion in response to a letter sent by them requesting a meeting with the minister to discuss the issued those engaged in the tourism trade are facing subsequent to the Easter Sunday attacks.

According to Sylvester, as soon as they arrived at the ministry, the minister had kept on scolding them. He had told the Ravaya newspaper that the minister had even threatened to throw him off the building.

However, in his defence, Minister Amaratunge had stated that he had behaved harshly as they had threatened to protest if their demands were not met.
