UNP wins Ravi's electorate! Featured

The UNP has reportedly secured a massive victory in the Colombo North electorate, which is the seat of former minister Ravi Karunanayake, who faced much backlash even from within the government.

According to unconfirmed reports, the UNP has secured all nine polling divisions of the electorate and 17 UNP members are reportedly elected to the Colombo Municipal Council.

The victory is cited as singular in a backdrop where electorates of many other UNP key members are presumed defeated.

MP Karunanayake faced serious charges with regard to the Bond Issue which even cost him his ministerial portfolio. Recently, the UNP appointed Marapana Committee too recommended that that Mr Ravi Karunanayake should not exercise any duties as the party Assistant Leader temporarily.
