64 witnesses in case against Gamini Senarath Featured

Judges in the anti-corruption high court will have to oversee their normal judicial duties while performing the new responsibilities, reports say.

Since the new court will take up cases on a daily basis, the judges will be in further difficulties.

The sitting judges will be Sampath Abeykoon, who is the chairman, Champa Janaki Rajaratne and Sampath Wijayaratne.

The first matter that will be taken up by the anti-corruption high court will be the misappropriation of Rs. 500 million of Litro Gas money during the previous regime by four persons, including Gamini Senarath, the chief-of-staff of the president at the time.

They will be served with their charge sheets on August 24.

The case has 64 witnesses and 22 documents.
