In a facebook posting, Nalaka Godahewa of ‘Viyath Maga’ says he believes the ex-president, as a senior politician, will understand that they cannot win without the candidate accepted by the people in the end.
He goes onto say that if not for a handful working day and night having formed the SLPP, the anti-UNPers will still have the Maithripala Sirisena-led SLFP as the ‘undesirable’ solution.
Godahewa says they should not think petty, should be practical and should not make antagonisms a hurdle at the election.
According to him, the internet will be their strongest weapon, a two-edged sword, which should be used carefully.
Until then, we should continue to educate the people without getting alarmed, he adds.
What Mahinda said
Answering questions raised by journalists following a religious function in Piliyandala on July 15, Mahinda Rajapaksa said he has never said that he would support Gotabhaya Rajapaksa to gain power.
Meanwhile, JO’s Kumar Welgama says the entire country will be ruined if a Hitler-like person is elected in the south.
His senior colleague Vasudeva Nanayakkara says the forces behind Gotabhaya Rajapaksa are very dangerous.
