Don’t talk about ‘IGP-Nilame’ issue, Mahinda tells JO Featured

Ex-president Mahinda Rajapaksa has advised leaders of the joint opposition against making any statements to the media with regard to the controversial telephone call received by IGP Pujith Jayasundara while addressing a public meeting.

Rajapaksa has told them that the topic of that telephone conversation, Dishan Wickramaratne Gunasekara or ‘Nilame’, was a close family friend.

It was at the request of Rajapaksa that subject minister Sagala Ratnayake had thus given a telephone call to the police chief to inquire into investigations against ‘Nilame’, political sources say.

Gunasekara is a close friend of minister Ratnayake too, say the sources.
