SLFP decides to pull out of the ruling coalition?

A group of Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) seniors have proposed to the president to pull out of Sri Lanka's ruling coalition and form a broad opposition front, reports say.

Earlier, SLFP MPs had proposed that United National Party leader Ranil Wickremesinghe should step down from his post as Prime minister.

However, with the UNP deciding to form an all-UNP government, it is said that the SLFP MPs have changed their stance and are planning to strengthen the opposition instead, together with the JVP.

At the present, there are 41 SLFP MPs and 06 JVP MPs.
