Dinesh rejects president’s accusation Featured

Joint opposition’s leader Dinesh Gunawardena strongly rejects an accusation by president Maithripala Sirisena that party leaders had intentionally planned to put off the parliamentary debate on the Central Bank bond auction report.

Addressing a public rally in Panadura yesterday (25), Gunawardena charged that no government minister present at the party leaders meeting supported conducting a debate.

Earlier in the day, president Sirisena expressed displeasure over a decision by party leaders to take up the report for debate only after the mini-polls.

He challenged to hold the debate into this report and another by the presidential commission that investigated serious fraud or corruption, before the election.
