The UNP agrees with president Maithripala Sirisena’s decision to send the report and the recommendations to the attorney general, who will decide if court acted is required, he says.
The minister notes that commission reports had not been referred to the AG previously, with Mahinda Rajapaksa using them during his tenure as the president to get ministers and MPs to do his bidding.
He disputes a call by the joint opposition and the JVP that an emergency session of parliament should be summoned to discuss the report.
