Producing Jaffna robbery suspects in Colombo courts unethical Featured

The producing in Colombo courts of 11 men arrested in the last fortnight on suspicion of committing robberies in Jaffna is in line with the law, but is unethical, says Jaffna high court judge M. Ilanchelian.

The judge made the remark while taking up a bail application filed by the suspects’ relatives.

He was reiterating what he previously said, on November 23, at the hearing of a case in connection with an attack on TNA supporters during the last elections.

He added that Jaffna courts themselves heard the cases and sentenced the suspects in robberies in the area, lankanewesline reports.
