Applicants doubled at Transport Medical Institute Featured

The National Transport Medical Institute at Nugegoda is reporting a doubling of the number of applicants to around 700 a day for the medical report that is mandatory to obtain a driving license.

Around 25 of its branches across the country too, are experiencing a similar increase in applicants, said chairman of the institute Dr. Rohana Pushpakumara.

This increase in applications is due to the proposal in budget for 2017 to raise the fine for driving without a valid license to Rs. 25,000.
