Parliament gets long vacation! Featured

Parliament sittings have been halted until January 23 during the Christmas holidays.

Parliamentarians have been given this extended vacation of one and a half months enabling them to engage in their election activities in lieu of the upcoming LG polls, according to political sources.

Although the budget was passed on December 9 and it was scheduled to allocate several more days for the debate on the new Constitution, due to the absence of the majority of parliamentarians present, parliament was adjourned until January 23.

However, parliamentarians have not received such an extended vacation prior to this instance.

During the past parliament usually recommenced around the second week of the new year after the December vacation.
