Chinese ship to offer free medical treatment for Lankans

The Chinese PLA Navy’s most advanced hospital ship Ark Peace will pay a friendly visit to Sri Lanka from tomorrow (August 06) to August 09.

During the visit, the Ark Peace will berth at passenger terminal of Colombo Port and the welcoming ceremony for the vessel will commence at 10am on August 06. It will be open to the public in the afternoon of August 06, notes the Chinese embassy in Colombo.

The Ark Peace will provide free medical service to Sri Lankans from 9.00am - 11.30am and from 3.00pm - 05.30pm on 8th August.

Since her commission, Ark Peace has sailed altogether 170,000 nautical miles for over 13,000 hours, visited 29 countries covering three oceans and five continents and provided medical service to over 120,000 people overseas.

Designed and built in China, the Ark Peace is 178 meters in length and a beam of 24 meters. She has got 8 levels and a full load displacement of 14,300 tons. The 4000m2 hospital is divided into five main areas respectively for casualty transfer, triage, outpatient, inpatient and evacuation.
