“Controlling patient’s behaviour vital in fighting dengue”

Not paying enough attention to controlling the behaviour of the dengue patient in order to control the connection between the dengue virus and the carrier, is a grave shortcoming in controlling dengue, said Chairman of the Strategic Enterprise Management Institute Ashoka Abayagunawardena.

Pointing out that preventing contact between the patient and the carrier is part of the treatment and said this calls for surveillance.

However, Abayagunawardena pointed out that although it was a vital component in controlling the spread of dengue, it is alarming that not enough attention has been paif to tis aspect.

So far attention has only been paid to eradicating dengue breeding sites.
