GMOA to resort to indefinite strike action! Featured

The GMOA has decided to resort to indefinite strike action over the SAITM issue, saying the government is yet to respond favourably to its concerns over the matter.

Its secretary Dr. Haritha Aluthge said the association’s executive committee would decide as to when the strike would be carried out.

The support of other trade unions in the state and private sectors will be obtained, he said.

He said he could not say for certain if the strike would be launched today, tomorrow or next week, but that it would begin following short notice through the media.

GMOA has no alternative, but to accept to govt. solution

Commenting on this, minister Duminda Dissanayake said the GMOA had no alternative, but to accept the solution given by the president and the government.

The government wants to give the best to the children, he said, adding that it is unfortunate if the doctors threaten the government by taking patients hostage to win their demands.

Doors are open to negotiate a solution with the government, he said, adding that the government was not prepared to accept the GMOA’s stand only.
