Ganganath in trouble over Mahinda’s Japan tour Featured

Foreign ministry guidelines on private foreign trips have reportedly been ignored during ex-president, MP Mahinda Rajapaksa’s recent tour of Japan.

This is revealed in a reply Sri Lankan ambassador in Japan Dhammika Ganganath Dissanayake has sent to president Maithripala Sirsiena, who has made inquires about the matter.

Dissanayake has admitted giving instructions outside the relevant guidelines issued by the foreign affairs ministry.

In his written submission to the president, the ambassador has noted that for instance, Rajapaksa and his team were allowed by the SriLankan airline flight to take goods weighing nearly one ton when they left Japan.
