Lawyer quoted report to make claim of 190 attacks

Lawyer Lakshan Dias has quoted from a report by the National Christian Evangelical Alliance of Sri Lanka to claim during a television programme that 190 religious places had been attacked since the present government took office in 2015.

In its report titled Sri Lanka Summary Report on Religious Freedom May 2017, the Alliance says it has recorded over 190 incidents of religious violence against churches, clergy, and Christians.

The National Christian Evangelical Alliance of Sri Lanka, formed in 1952, is opposed to the Catholic Council, to which Archbishop Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith belongs.
