Arundika in trouble for meeting Mahinda in public!

The government has decided to call for an explanation from Tourism and Christian Affairs Deputy Minister Arundika Fernando on meeting former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and former Sri Lankan Ambassador to Russia Udayanga Weeratunge who has summons issued against him, in Japan and posting photographs publicly.

According to Cabinet Spokesman Dr. Rajitha Senaratne, this issue was discussed at length at the Cabinet meeting on June 13 and had arrived at this decision.

Udayanga Weeratunge has a court warrant issued against him and an international red alert issued as well. The National television Rupavahini had in their evening news bulletin on June 13, criticised the Deputy Minister for having met such wanted individuals in public.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Minister had complained to the SLFP General Secretary Mahinda Amaraweera and SLFP Spokesman Dilan Perera regarding the television programme that criticised him.
