Speaking at a function in Kandy yesterday (12), Dissanayake said he personally believed that to be inappropriate.
He also said the elections commission chairman would be entrusted with the task of arranging, within the next fortnight, for the announcement of the local government polls.
The minister went onto say that the SLFP was having no divisions, adding the president took party decisions in consultation with all.
According to him, members of the Rajapaksa family and joint opposition MPs were discussing to join the government.
Mahinda Rajapaksa was defeated at the presidential election due to the faults of his brothers Gotabhaya and Basil, he said.
Especially due to the ex-defence secretary’s conduct, the SLFP lost its Catholic vote base, from 45 per cent to 25 pc, and the Muslim vote base, from 15 pc to two pc, said Dissanayake.
