Responding to a question raised in parliament today (10), the minister said that the government's attention is also focused on revising the price of kerosene oil.
Commenting further, the minister said, “Last month kerosene production was lost due to the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery being closed. As a result, the kerosene supply for the past four weeks could not be met. However, we managed to supply the fisheries harbours through some reserve stocks we had.”
“A crude oil shipment is expected to arrive in the country on the 13th of this month and therefore, we expect to recommence operations at the oil refinery from the 15th. From thereon, we expect to commence kerosene production two to three days following the commencement of operations.”
“Accordingly, the uninterrupted supply of kerosene oil will commence from the 19th .”
