SLFP minister asks Malik to mediate & protect his position Featured

Worried that he will lose his ministerial position in the cabinet reshuffle expected to take place, a minister from SLFP has requested minister, UNP chairman Malik Samarawickrama, to intervene, a Sirikotha spokesman told Sri Lanka Mirror.

The SLFP minister has met Samarawickrama and asked him to tell the president not to remove him.

Samarawickrama is one of the key government figures who are calling for a cabinet reshuffle in order for the continuation of the government.

As the representative of the prime minister, he has reached basic agreement with UPFA general secretary Mahinda Amaraweera on a cabinet reshuffle, said the UNP spokesman.

He added that the cabinet reshuffle would take place after the PM’s tour of China.
