India denies reports of sending troops to SL Featured

The Indian High Commission has categorically denied speculative reports that India is sending troops to Sri Lanka.

'These reports and such views are also not in keeping with the position of the Government of India,' the embassy states.

The High Commission further reiterates that the Indian External Affairs ministry spokesman clearly stated yesterday that India is fully supportive of Sri Lanka's democracy, stability and economic recovery.

Earlier yesterday (10), netizens were in uproar over a Tweet by BJP MP - Subramanium Swamy, stating that India should send its Army to Sri Lanka 'to restore Constitutional sanity'. 'At present anti-Indian foreign forces are taking advantage of people’s anger. This affects India’s national security,” he has added.
