Pottu Amman-style plan used for prison bus shooting

The prison bus shooting in Kalutara that left seven dead had been planned in a manner similar to the planning by LTTE spy chief Sivashankar Pottu Amman to carry out attacks in the south, ‘Rivira’ reports quoting police.

The plan had been made by Makandure Madhush, with a promise that it would be foolproof and that no one would be caught.

When Pottu Amman planned an attack in Colombo or elsewhere in the south, he had chosen LTTE members unknown to each other to play the roles of suicide bomber, spies etc.

However, the CCD, led by its director H. Samudrajeewa has been able to uncover details of the shooting down of Aruna Udayashantha alias Samayan, four other inmates and two officers on February 27.

The investigators traced a telephone number, and everything from the hijacking of a van at Maradana, renting of a house at Kindelpitiya in Bandaragama to how they had staged the attack have been uncovered.

One of the shooters, Battaramulle Bunty has been arrested and he has confessed the identities of the others involved.

What now remains to be found are their hiding places and the weapons used.002
