TID probes into 702 Lankans linked to ISIS!

The Terrorist Investigation Division has commenced investigation into 702 Sri Lankans who had allegedly maintained links with the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, or ISIS.

The TID has informed this before the Colombo Additional Magistrate - Chandima Liyanage today (01).

A Mohamed Samsudeen, who is said to be a ISIS member, had been arrested recently by the Indian Intelligence Agency.

The TID informed the Colombo Magistrate today (01) that details pertaining to 702 Sri Lankans had been uncovered from a WhatsApp group on Samsudeen's phone.

Images and speeches of the mastermind behind the 2019 Easter Sunday Attacks Zahran Hashim have also been shared in this WhatsApp group, the TID has further informed the court.

The TID had confirmed one person among the 702 individuals has been arrested and is currently being questioned in detention.
