The announcement was a part of amended guidelines for air passengers, and the press release in Sinhala is shown below.
The MoH media release stated that the decision was taken by a technical committee and details in this regard had emerged during a meeting held at the ministry today, which was headed by the Health Minister - Keheliya Rambukwella.
Speaking at the meeting, Director General of Health Services - Dr. Asela Gunawardena said that foreign arrivals who are not fully vaccinated will be allowed to reach their hotels in a bio-bubble.
Although the MoH media release stated that these new guidelines will come into effect from Oct. 01, Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella has Tweeted that they will come to effect from midnight tonight (Sep. 29).
On Sep. 24, Minister Rambukwella himself announced the launch of the '1st on-arrival #PCR testing for returning #lka nationals who've been fully #vaccinated"
"As mentioned earlier, this is a big step forward in #ReopeningSafely," he further said.
