CEO arrested over deleted data files of NMRA

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested a CEO of a company that managed the data base of the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) with regard to deleted data files, police said.
The CID has launched an investigation after the files were reported missing in July.

The private computer firm managed the NMRA's software system had previously said that several data files in the database were found deleted by mistake by an engineer and that the data could be restored.

Earlier, State Minister Channa Jayasumana and the Chairman of the NMRA had also said that the original data files are safe.
