Geneva agreements should be in line with president’s stand – SLFP Featured

The SLFP wants Sri Lanka’s latest agreement at the UNHRC with regard to the 30/1 proposal adopted in 2015 and the decision to co-sponsor the same to be in line with the stand already declared by president Maithripala Sirisena, ‘Sathhanda’ reports.

Although the country has been given two additional years to implement the proposal, ‘those who reached the agreement’ should ensure that they act in accordance with the president’s stand, minister Susil Premajayantha said.

Premajayantha said by telephone from Russia where he had been accompanying the president on an official tour that their stand was totally against a hybrid court of any manner, and that reconciliation should be the only concern.

SLFP sources say government representatives to Geneva might have agreed to the agreement, but that they have not given consideration to the situation that could arise after the two year period.
