Ven. Muruttetuwe Ananda Thera criticizes govt's COVID control program

Public Services United Nurses Union president Ven. Muruttetuwe Ananda thera has strongly criticised the way the government has been handling the COVID-19 virus.
"The number of ministers engaged in this task has gone up. There are three ministers to do this task. It seems there is no proper coordination among them and one does not know what the other two are doing," the thera lamented.
"Besides, there is a question as to who is ruling the country today _ whether the country is governed by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa or some businessmen"
"We brought this government into power because we love this country. We can;t allow the country to be governed according to the vested interests of the businessmen."
"We don't know who is advising the president who has a genuine interest in building this country. If he gets genuine advice from the prime minister, we can overcome this difficult situation."
The Thera said the government is applying temporary measures and such stopgap solutions will not be able to resolve this crisis.
"Therefore, we urge the government to close the country for two weeks and give the vaccines to the people. If there is no money to buy vaccines, sell whatever assets we have and find the money to buy the vaccine."
