Daily COVID-19 caseload crosses 1,500 mark

For the first time since the pandemic, the daily COVID-19 caseload of Sri Lanka has crossed the 1,500 mark, reaching a new daily high.

According to the situation report of the Epidemiology Unit issued at 08.00pm today (April  29), 1,531 cases were found in the day, bringing the total number of infections to 106,484.

The report adds that there are 10,378 patients under medical care and 95,445 recoveries at the moment.

Meanwhile, health authorities have confirmed 06 Covid-19 deaths today.

The latest patients to succumb to Covid-19 are : a 49-year old female from Boralesgamuwa, a 85-year old female from Kandy, a 37-year old female from Wattala, a 72-year old female from Welimada, a 77-year old male from Kalutara North and and a 61-year old female from Nawalapitiya. 

Accordingly, the total number of Covid-19 fatalities is at 667.
