Internal sources cite that the Chairman of the Authority - Wijeratne Devagedara was involved in the decision. Devagedara already faces several charges including assaulting an employee.

Earlier this year, Devagedara had assaulted the authority’s Jathika Sevaka Sangamaya branch president - W.V.S. Surasinghe of having sent a letter to his wife against him, and assaulted him in front of other top officials at his room.

He has lodged a complaint regarding the assault to Thalangama police on January 17, but Devagedara had managed to evade giving a statement to the police.
