The State Minister made this observation while participating in an observation tour of Suwaseriya Institute in Rajagiriya.
1990 Health Exploration Ambulance Service plays a significant role in the COVID-19 disease management of the country. They have been identified as frontline workers of COVID control mission of the country.
The Minister of State observed the role of the Suwasariya Ambulance Service in COVID-19, its operations, discussed the shortcomings of the institution, future plans and how to proceed in the future.
“With 297 ambulances and a full staff of 1,399 drivers and staff, the call center receives more than 5,300 telephone calls a day and has received 3,424,590 telephone calls so far. The average cost of a Suwasariya ambulance service per day is Rs. 5332 and it is a completely free service to the public. The cost for this in the last 10 months is over Rs.1,500 million.” State Ministry of Primary Health Services, Pandemics and COVID Prevention sources said.
State Ministry Secretary Dr. Amal Harsha de Silva, Suwaseriya Foundation Chairman Dumindra Rathnayake, CEO Sohan de Silva and Chief Medical Officer Sri Lal de Silva also participated.
