In a statement, ministry secretary - M.M.P.K. Mayadunne Mayadunne states that the fire had occurred in a warehouse of defective material and no office or document has been damaged.

He adds that the damage has been limited to the warehouse, which was located on the ground floor of a building outside the main complex.

He further notes that the reason for the fire is still unknown and the CID and Govt. The Analyst's Department is tasked with conducting investigations.
