Champika resigns from JHU Featured

Patali Champika Ranawaka today (12) stepped down from the post of General Secretary of the Jathika Hela Urumaya and resigned from the party.

His decision was announced at a special conference of the party held at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute today.

Mr. Ranawaka had said he was leaving the party to build a new social movement.

Also several members of the JHU Central Working Committee also resigned from their posts.

Accordingly, Patali Champika Ranawaka, Karunaratne Paranavithana, Nishantha Sri Warnasinghe, Anuruddha Pradeep, and Nirosha Athukorala have resigned.

The appointment of new office bearers to the JHU also took place at the same time, with the approval of the party members present at the convention.

Accordingly, Ven. Hadigalle Wimalasara Thero was appointed as the new Chairman of the Jathika Hela Urumaya and Bandula Chandrasekara will be the new General Secretary of the party.

Daya Perera was appointed as the Deputy Chairman, Tudor Perera as the Deputy Secretary, and Anil Jayawardena as the Treasurer.

Mahendra Jayasinghe is the new National Organizer of the JHU.

25 new officers were appointed to the JHU Central Committee.
