9,688 criminal cases completed in 2020 - AG

The Attorney General's Department says 9,688 criminal cases have been completed since January 2020 to date.

Coordinating Secretary of the Attorney General State Counsel Nishara Jayaratne speaking to NewsRadio said 4,019 indictments have been filed during this period before High Courts.

Jayaratne said 3,012 suspects have been released while the advice of the Attorney General has been sought over 2,499 cases at Magistrate’s Courts.
