Several nattami COVID-19 positive; Maning Market closed indefinitely

Deputy Inspector General of Police Ajith Rohana says the Colombo Maning Market will remain closed until PCR tests on good transporters at the market or ‘nattami’ are completed.

Speaking to media the Acting Police Media Spokesman said a large number of ‘nattami’ had tested positive for COVID-19.

He said the market was scheduled to open this morning and was postponed owing to the large number of COVID-19 positive results.

The DIG added the market remains closed on the advice of health authorities, claiming that Police, health authorities and intelligence services are ascertaining the spread of the coronavirus among ‘nattami’.

He noted that the Maning Market will be opened in due course with consent by health authorities.
