The victim is a 27-year-old male resident of Panadura area who had passed away upon admission to the Panadura Base Hospital on Oct. 31.

After a PCR test was done during post mortem, the Epidemiology unit has confirmed that the patient had contracted the virus. 

The media release by the Department of Government Information notes that it was reported the individual concerned had committed suicide.
