According to sources, it is said that the measure is to be taken to get rid of allegations leveled against Sajith Premadasa, including destroying the UNP as well as strong opposition, and forming unstable alliances with Muslim parties.
Sajith Premadasa also faced severe backlash in social media after the opposition led by him failed to successfully oppose the 20th Amendment.
It is said that members of these Muslim parties had voted in favour of the 20th Amendment, over an agreement reached between the government, Bathiudeen and Hakeem.
Reports further say that Rishad and Hakeem are to join the government after voting in favour of the upcoming Budget vote.
The government, which initially lacked the 2/3 majority to pass the 20th Amendment, were able to tip the balance after a group of MPs who are members of these Muslim parties as well SJB MP Diana Gamage voted in fovour of the amendment.
However, Hakeem and Bathiudeen had voted against the Amendment.
